Wordpress to BlogCFC ( wp2blogcfc )

The Wordpress to BlogCFC migration tool has been submitted and approved on RIAForge, project files were just uploaded this morning.

I'll be migrating the Playground to BlogCFC just as soon as I find a suitable skin for it, and figure out why the hell the SEF URLs are not working.

Wordpress to BlogCFC Migration

My migration tool is nearly complete. So far it successfully imports:

Users Pages Categories Blog Entries

and creates the appropriate Entry-Category relationships.

it ended up being MUCH easier than I had originally anticipated, I'll have code posted soon along with a possible submission to RIAForge

Wordpress2BlogCFC

I'm currently working on a migrator for BlogCFC that will pull data from Wordpress into BlogCFC goodness. This will work for the current version of Wordpress 2.8.4 and BlogCFC 5.9.4

Coldfusion j2eeSessionScopeStub cannot cast...

While working on a customer solution, we ran into an interesting error.

view plain print about
1Error casting an object of type coldfusion.runtime.J2eeSessionScopeStub cannot be cast to coldfusion.runtime.J2eeSessionScopeStub to an incompatible type. This usually indicates a programming error in Java, although it could also mean you have tried to use a foreign object in a different way than it was designed.
2coldfusion.runtime.J2eeSessionScopeStub cannot be cast to coldfusion.runtime.J2eeSessionScopeStub

This problem occurred on a load balanced server pair running Coldfusion 8.01 with Cumulative Hotfix 3. Each server is running a separate instance which is then clustered. From what I've been able to gather from others in the community is that uninstalling the hot fix alleviates the problem, however in this case the hotfix is required for the successful operation of the customer's site. Luckily, the site did not need the session scope and I shut off J2EE sessions as well as session replication.

I eagerly await a fix from Adobe on this, if there's anyone else in the community that has run across this problem and have successfully mitigated it, I invite you to share your solutions.

New Server!

We're up and running on our own server, let the madness begin!

So why WordPress...

Isn't this a Coldfusion site? Well...the answer is yes, and no. Yes I am a Coldfusion developer and also a SQL Server DBA by trade. Before that I was a Windows platform application developer, using C, C++ and even VB. Then I met the world wide web, and of course free being good, I picked up PHP. PHP and I had a good relationship for a couple of years, then while working in a web shop I was introduced to Coldfusion and now only visit PHP when I absolutely must. it's a strenuous relationship we have.

So anyway, why WordPress? it's nifty and as soon as I finish my migration for BlogCFC I'll likely switch it up. You'll find all sorts of different code on this site. From CF to PHP even Ruby and I think there's some Perl hiding here somewhere ;)

I'm not the language zealot I once was many years ago, but I do prefer CF in the web world.

Over the next several weeks, I will be filling my code warehouse with every bit that I can dig up from my own archives, Pascal and ADA might even make an appearance!

This is my playground, welcome.

New Digs!

I'm currently in the process of moving the playground to a new collocation facility. The new hardware is already in place and being tested and code conversion for the site is underway.

Something amusing to me is that for the past few weeks, some dolt in china has been hammering the bejesus out of my new SQL Server in an attempt to brute force a login, good luck with that buddy...

Conficker/Downadup, you suck...

Freakin Awesome!

SPORE...WTF EA

So I've been suckered into playing EA's latest offering. Spore, but not the full game, just the Creature Creator, which I must say is neat and those who know me know that any time I mention EA in a positive light I vomit a little in my mouth. Why the hate? two words, DOWNLOAD MANAGER. I mean WTF is this piece of crap? Whatever happened to downloading a file from a website, yeah sure there's the "anyone can download it if they have the link" issue but come on, is it really that difficult for you weenies to implement a less invasive file delivery system? Why the hell should I have to download and install something so that I can download and install something else? Why the hell is that while it's downloading that something and stalls, so do all of my other network connects hmmmm? Oh yeah and let's not tell them that it can cause stability issues while playing the thing that it allows you to download too! JFGDCWTF!!
