Loto's Character Workshop - Open Source!

It's been awhile since my last update of the Workshop, and I know there are those of you out there that still use it (and I thank you!) It's become difficult to keep up to date due to real life, that and the fact that I haven't played in quite some time that it just made sense to release it to the public. So, public DAoC'ers, you are free to do with it as you please though I'm sure there are many that have moved to other tools like GearBunny, Kort's, etc... if you do end up taking a look or modifying it, let me know :) The project began 7 years ago and was done in Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. If you're an experienced programmer with serious interest, or just a beginner looking for something to tinker with, there's certainly enough there to peruse.

Here's the link to my github repository, the version that you'll find is 1.110.0 which is the current binary available for download on my site.

Loto's Character Workshop 1.110 - Released

I've decided to skip the whole 1.109c since there was nothing going on there anyway, brambles? really? Alrighty then... So yeah, 1.110 Pendragon, now you can see what will be before it actually is. Some of the changes are hawt!

Bards, you can now heal while being beat in the face!

Wardens, you guys get the Bard's old regrowth spec Greater Heals RAWR! and Hib casters - Str/Dex debuffs for all! WOOT! Albs and Mids, you get stuff too, copy/paste!

Makes me want to almost play again, not enough hours in the day. We need to move to another planet where days are longer and...no one needs to sleep!

Preplog Revised - Prepare your IIS logs for SQL Bulk Insert

While searching for a solution for easily importing IIS logs into SQL Server for some quick analysis, I came across a helpful program from Microsoft in the Knowledge Base called Preplog, C++ source code included! (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/296093) This little guy did just the trick...for awhile anyway. I quickly found that it would crash when processing certain logs so I checked out the source and found the problem. Hint: Take a close look at lines 7 and 20.

view plain print about
1#include <stdio.h>
2#include <string.h>
3
4int main(int argc, char **argsch)
5{
6 FILE *stream;
7 char line[1000];
8 int ch;
9
10 if(argc < 2)
11 {
12     printf("Usage: preplog.exe <weblog>\n");
13     printf("\nThe output will go to stdout, so use > filename to direct to an output file\n");
14     return -1;
15    }//if
16
17
18 if( (stream = fopen( argsch[1], "r" )) != NULL )
19 {
20        while(fgets(line,10000,stream) != NULL)
21        {
22         if(ch = strncmp(line,"#",1) !=0)
23         {
24 printf( "%s", line);
25         }//if

31 {
32     printf("Could not open %s. Please ensure that the path and filename are correct.\n",argsch[1]);
33     return -1;
34 }//else
35}//main

The character array "line" is only 1000 bytes in length, while fgets() is being set to retrieve 10,000 bytes. this works as long as the line being fetched is less than or equal to 1000 bytes.

The fix? change the declaration of line from 1000 to 10000 and you're good to go!

Of course you can always configure IIS ODBC logging and not have to deal with logs like this :)

It took longer than expected, but it's finished and live (as of yesterday.) The workshop is now up to date with DAoC 1.108 and since EA Mythic, or Bioware Mythic or whatever they're calling themselves lately don't feel the need to keep the more recent older patch notes around on the site anymore (like I want to go sifting through the VN Boards.) - Craft Bar Tool - Setup Craft Bar window will now only load spellcrafters in the drop box.

- Stats and Calculations - Duplicate stats where one stat resides in a 5th slot will now calculate correctly. For example if you have a pair of leggings with +15 Con imbued and their 5th slot bonus is also +15 Con, you will now see a total of 30 Con on the leggings.

Fixed a bug that prevented the Mythirian bonuses from showing up in some areas.

- Imports - Fixed the Kort's Import routine to only load those items that are marked as equipped. For example, if you have a Kort's template that has 3 rings on the Right Right slot and the 2nd one is marked as equipped, the Workshop will now correctly load ring #2 instead of the last ring (#3).
